US national team announces friendly vs. Peru set for Oct. 16

The US men's national team has announced the remaing match of its fall itinerary with a friendly against Peru on Oct. 16 in East Hartford, Conn. The game will kick off at 7:30 pm ET, and can be watched on ESPN2, UniMás, and UDN.


Peru, ranked 20th in the current FIFA World Rankings, will be the fifth team in the FIFA Top 20 to face the US in their Kickoff Series, joining Brazil (3), England (6), Colombia (14) and Mexico (16). The US will also faced No. 21-ranked Italy.

The United States and Peru will meet for only the third time since 2000. The USA holds a 3-2-1 edge in the all-time series which began in 1989 in East Rutherford, N.J..


Five of six previous meetings have been played in the United States. On Sept. 4, 2015, Jozy Altidore scored both US goals in a 2-1 win over Peru at Washington's RFK Stadium. The previous encounter took place more than 15 years prior, when the US defeated Peru 1-0 in the group stage of the 2000 Concacaf Gold Cup.


The US national team is 4-1-1 record all-time at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.
