Major League Soccer announced on Thursday that the MLS Board of Governors approved the addition of three men, brothers Jorge and Jose Mas, and Masayoshi Son, to the ownership group of Miami's prospective MLS expansion team.
Jorge Mas is the co-founder and chairman of the board of MasTec. Jose Mas is the telecommunications company’s CEO. Both are Miami natives who live in the city. Son is a Japanese entrepreneur, and is the founder and CEO of SoftBank.
The ownership group for the prospective Miami team includes former LA Galaxy midfielder David Beckham (pictured above), Sprint CEO and Brightstar founder Marcelo Claure, and entertainment executive Simon Fuller. MLS also announced on Thursday that a further announcement on the Miami team is expected to be made ahead of the start of the 2018 MLS regular season.
