Sacramento Republic FC will continue their bid for an MLS expansion team next week when team owners, executives and Sacramento mayer Kevin Johnson visit league headquarters in New York City.
The Sacramento Bee reported on Saturday that the meeting will take place on Tuesday and it will involve a "presentation to league officials."
MLS executives visited Sacramento in September on a trip that included a pep rally for club supporters ahead of a Sacramento Republic USL PRO playoff match. The side, coached by MLS legend Preki, proceeded to win the USL PRO title in their first year of existence and sold out every home game in the process.
A spokesperson for Mayor Johnson told the Sacramento Bee that the trip to meet with league executives is meant "to provide an update on Sacramento's progress, including information on the ownership group, the level of community support and the facility planning."
