Negotiations to build a 25,000-soccer stadium in Las Vegas as a potential future site for an MLS expansion team are going into extra time, according to a report.
Las Vegas and The Renaissance Companies Inc. are in the midst of a 180-day negotiating window to build a new soccer stadium near Cashman Field, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. That site is currently home to USL side Las Vegas Lights, with the plan that they would become a Major League Soccer expansion team should the deal be approved.
That negotiating window between the city and Renaissance is set to expire on Sunday, but city spokesman Jan Radke reportedly confirmed both sides agreed to push the deadline to Feb. 5.

Las Vegas mayor Carolyn Goodman told the newspaper the extension was a result of scheduling issues during the holiday season.
"I feel very comfortable that we’re moving in the right direction,” said Goodman, who has been supportive of the idea of an MLS expansion team in Las Vegas.
