After months of rumors and speculation, it seems like David Beckham really does have his eyes on Miami after all.
A report on Tuesday by Reuters' Simon Evans indicates that Beckham will be visiting Miami this week for "exploratory" talks regarding a potential MLS expansion team in the city.
The Reuters report cites a former Miami mayor, who confirmed Beckham's arrival, and a supporters group which indicated that the former LA Galaxy star will meet Marcelo Claure, the owner of Bolivian side Bolívar, who was previously involved in an MLS expansion bid for Miami.
Beckham, who announced his retirement from professional soccer just weeks ago, had an option in his MLS contract for the purchase of an MLS expansion team at a reduced fee. On several occasions he has confirmed his interest to exercise that option. Miami is one of several cities said to be in consideration.
The MLS league office declined to comment on the Reuters report.
Just last week, MLS unveiled New York City FC as the league's 20th expansion team to begin play in 2015.
