Los Angeles FC's plan to bring a soccer-specific stadium to the city's Exposition Park is now one step closer.
The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously on Friday to allow LAFC to move forward with stadium plans after reviewing environmental impact reports. The club also released renderings of the planned stadium on Friday.
LAFC's planned 22,000-capacity stadium will be built at the site of the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, which will be demolished so LAFC can build their new venue there.
"These approvals by the City Council provide LAFC formal consent to take possession of the site and proceed with the groundbreaking of the project," the club said in a statement. "Demolition of the Sports Arena is expected this summer. The new facility will be ready for the club's inaugural season in 2018."

LAFC is slowly putting everything in place to launch for the 2018 season. In January, the club unveiled their logo and colors and has more recently gotten their academy system off and running.
