When striker Paolo Guerrero scored against Haiti on Saturday to open Peru's Copa America Centenario, he did more than just earn his country a crucial win in a tough group.
Guerrero made history by scoring 27 goals, the most in Peru history, and broke a record set by Peruvian legend Teofilo Cubillas in the 1978 World Cup.
It, of course, was hardly a surprise the 32-year-old Flamengo striker was the goalscorer for Peru on Saturday -- he was the top goalscorer of the last two Copa America tournaments. If Peru can get out of a tough Group B that includes Brazil and Ecuador, he could go for a third Copa America record.
