Austin FC on Monday released a series of updated renderings for their new stadium, scheduled to debut when the expansion club enter MLS at the start of the 2021 season – and intended to reflect the Texas capital city’s unique culture and vibe.
Featuring a variety of areas which “reflect Austin’s love of indoor/outdoor spaces” and can be used for community and special events year-round, the soccer-specific facility in the city’s McKalla Place neighborhood will offer 100% roof coverage to provide spectators with shade from the Texas sun, as well as a steep, intimate bowl design to keep in noise and offer prime sightlines.
In keeping with other new MLS stadiums like LAFC’s Banc of California Stadium – designed by Gensler, the same firm working on Austin FC’s – and Minnesota United’s Allianz Field, a supporter section in the South end will be home to an estimated 3,400 hardcore fans:
They’ll get to quench their hunger and thirst at an adjacent outdoor supporters’ bar of their own:
Elsewhere, a variety of bars, clubs and suite spaces will cater to a range of tastes while reflecting the region’s outdoor lifestyle, cherished green spaces and proud status as Live Music Capital of the World.
That includes a premium “Field Club” located next to the tunnel where players will enter the pitch, providing “unprecedented proximity” to the action in a well-appointed lounge setting...
And a “West Terrace Porch” offering a penthouse-level view of the field with both a backyard vibe and top-end accommodations:
Noting that the City Council unanimously awarded a set of zoning approvals for the stadium on June 6, the release cites club president Andy Loughnane in confirming that Austin FC are on course to break ground on their future home, which will hold 20,500 spectators, in September. Austin will begin accepting deposits for its season-ticket program on Wednesday.
