Alphonso Davies is back it at for Bayern Munich, notching one of his prettiest assists yet in his team's Wednesday clash of German powerhouses with Borussia Dortmund.
With Bayern Munich leading 1-0 in the 32nd minute, Davies whipped in a pinpoint bending cross that was cashed home by teammate Thomas Mueller to double the lead in Bayern's eventual 3-2 German Supercup victory. Check it out below.
That's the type of stuff that led to the former Vancouver Whitecaps phenom becoming one of the biggest breakout stars on the world stage last season, and he's looking primed to pick up right where he left off. With a league title and a UEFA Champions League win already under his belt before his 20th birthday, it's going to be fascinating to watch exactly what heights Davies can reach.
But Davies wasn't alone among MLS academy products taking the field in the prestigious German Supercup. FC Dallas product Chris Richards joined Davies in the Bayern backline in the second half, while NYCFC academy graduate Gio Reyna came on to try to add an attacking spark for Borussia Dortmund.
