Another competition, another trophy for Alphonso Davies.
The former Vancouver Whitecaps homegrown star has been playing in the Club World Cup in Qatar with Bayern Munich, which the German giants officially won on Thursday with a 1-0 victory over Concacaf Champions League winners Tigres UANL.
Davies started once again and played all 90 minutes at left back, helping Bayern to the clean sheet and the club's remarkable sixth title in 12 months, adding to its haul that also includes the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and three domestic titles.
Bayern only won by one goal, but it was a relatively comfortable victory, as the German side controlled the action through most of the match, getting the winner in the 59th minute when Benjamin Pavard cashed home the rebound finish after a deflection off superstar striker Robert Lewandowski. The goal was originally waved off for offside but was awarded after Video Assistant Review.
For Davies, it's another milestone in a torrid start to his Bayern career following his transfer from the Whitecaps. At the rate he's going, it can be easy to forget and scary to think about the fact that he's still just 20 years old and is really just getting started.
