Vancouver Whitecaps FC earned their place in the Audi 2026 MLS Cup Playoffs on Saturday night, thanks to a 1-1 draw at LAFC.
The Whitecaps are the Western Conference leaders (51 points; 15W-7L-6D) with six regular-season games remaining. The No. 1 spot would grant them home-field advantage until at least MLS Cup presented by Audi, should they advance that far.
After reaching MLS Cup in 2025, Vancouver are now looking to go one step further during head coach Jesper Søresen's second season in charge and hoist the club's first-ever MLS Cup title.
Star players
Despite transferring Best XI midfielder Sebastian Berhalter to Middlesbrough this summer, Vancouver have not slowed down.
Whitecaps all-time leading scorer Brian White is in the running for the Golden Boot presented by Audi with 17 goals, while German legend Thomas Müller has added 17 goal contributions (9g/8a) during his first full season with the club.
Paraguay international and 2026 FIFA World Cup veteran Andrés Cubas patrols the midfield, while right back Édier Ocampo provides a boost on both ends of the pitch with a joint-team-high eight assists.
Vancouver also boast one of MLS's best defenses, allowing the second-fewest goals league-wide this season (30). Reigning MLS Defender of the Year Tristan Blackmon and goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka, who has a joint-league-best 12 clean sheets, are key reasons why.
