Will Bruin joined Austin FC as a free agent on February 10, 2023. At the time of his signing for the Verde & Black, he ranked eighth among active Major League Soccer players in career goals scored (77) and 15th in games played (310). His nine (9) career goals in MLS Cup Playoff matches are tied for the most among active players.
The 2023 season is Bruin’s 13th in MLS, following six (6) seasons each with Houston Dynamo FC (2011-2016) and Seattle Sounders FC (2017-2022). He totaled 56 goals and 21 assists during his time in Houston, to go with 30 goals and 15 assists while in Seattle. He won the 2019 MLS Cup and the 2022 Concacaf Champions League with Sounders FC.
At the international level, Bruin made two (2) appearances for the United States Men’s National Team, and was a member of the USMNT squad which won the 2013 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Bruin played collegiately at Indiana University from 2008 to 2010, scoring 33 goals in 66 appearances. As a junior in 2010, he finished as the MAC Hermann Trophy runner-up and the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.
