CAREER
2021: Castellanos enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2021 that ultimately saw him secure the MLS Golden Boot award. A season littered with memorable moments and goals, the striker finished the regular season with 19 goals and 8 assists. As the Club moved into the playoffs Castellanos once again showed his quality, scoring three goals in three playoff games. This included a brilliant header in the MLS Cup final, which he supplemented with a penalty in the decisive shootout.
2020:Â The Argentine forward played 22 games for the club in 2020 and registered six goals and three assists. He enjoyed arguably his finest moment in an NYCFC shirt during the 5-2 win against the New York Red Bulls in November. Castellanos registered a hat-trick and assist on the day to give the Boys in Blue a big win against their rivals.
2019: The Argentine appeared in 30 matches for NYCFC, scoring 11 goals and seven assists. Taty helped the club with scoring goals in high pressure situations to tie up the game or to secure the win. He broke City’s record for fastest goal in club history and earned his first U-23 international call up after a successful season which also saw him voted as NYCFC's Breakthrough Player of the Year by fans.
2018:Â ValentÃn Castellanos joins NYCFC on loan.
2017: ValentÃn was loaned out to CA Torque for 12 months, representing the Uruguayan team on 19 occasions, scoring three goals which helped the team achieve promotion to the First Division. ValentÃn won the Primera Division award for Young Player of the Month for June and enjoyed a promising first pro season in 2018.
2016:Â Castellanos started his career at Universidad de Chile.
