2022: Continuing where he left off in our 2021 MLS Cup-winning campaign, Thiago featured in all bar one of our MLS regular season fixtures, and two of our playoff games. He scored five goals and claimed two assists, bagging four goals in as many matches to earn a nomination for April’s Etihad Player of the Month prize. Introduced from the bench, his efforts helped the team to Campeones Cup glory.
2021: The Brazilian forward joined New York City Football Club in April 2021. He managed to score four goals and register two assists in 968 minutes of regular season action. This included a memorable solo goal against D.C. United in June during which he ran the length of the field before calmly slotting the ball past Bill Hamid.
Youth: Thiago began his career in the Fluminense academy before spending six months in Portugal with Portimonense. Thiago was the leading scorer in Brazil’s U-20 competition for Bahia’s youth side before breaking into their senior squad in 2021.
