LA Galaxy signed French defender Séga Coulibaly on April 28, 2021.
Coulibaly, 24, joins the LA Galaxy after playing professionally for multiple clubs in France since 2013. He signs with the LA Galaxy on a two-year contract with a one-year option and will be added to the club’s roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Coulibaly joins the LA Galaxy after notching over 100 professional appearances throughout various competitions in France, including Ligue 2, Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue and Championnat National competition, among others. He also tallied four goals and an assist from his defensive position.
The defender represented the Rennes reserve side from 2013-2016 before signing with Ligue 1 side Rennes, where he spent two years on loan at CS Sedan and US Avranches the following two seasons. In 2018, he joined AS Nancy in Ligue 2 and went on to make 45 appearances for the club during his time there, and an additional 16 appearances for US Avranches during another loan spell.
Internationally, Coulibaly represented France’s youth national teams on various levels. From 2011-2016, he appeared in multiple competitions for France’s U-16, U-17, U-18 and U-20 sides, making 20 total international appearances during that span.
