MidfielderSebastien Le Toux was selected by the Union on Nov. 25, 2009 in the MLS Expansion Draft after being left unprotected by Seattle Sounders FC. He re-joined the team following the 2012 season in a trade with New York Red Bulls.
Le Toux holds the Union franchise record in goals (50), assists (50), shots (305), shots on goal (137) , corner kicks (371), game-winning goals (9), and game-winning assists (16). Le Toux also leads the Union in penalty kick goals, impressively 13-for-13 all time. Le Toux also won the MLS Individual Fair Play Award in both 2010 and 2011. With 54 goals and 50 assists, he joined MLS' elite 50-50 club of just 16 players all-time.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2016 (Union): Le Toux has appeared in all 20 of Philadelphia's matches this season. The owner of almost all of the Union’s team records, Le Toux is off to completing yet another great season for the club. He has scored twice and assisted five times so far with 13 starts. The two goals brought his Union scoring total above the 50-goal mark. His assists have come at very crucial times in the game as well, one of which provided a stoppage time winner against D.C. United.Â
2015 (Union): Le Toux appeared in 31 games and started 26. He scored eight goals and assisted on six. He also scored the game-winning goal against Chicago in the US Open Cup semifinal. Joined MLS 50-50 club by notching his 50th career assist against Houston Dynamo on Sept. 20. He is one of only 16 players in MLS history to reach those numbers.
2014 (Union): Le Toux appeared in 29 games, starting 23, while logging 2,050 minutes. He posted a team-high 12 goals and 31 points. He also notched seven assists on the season. Le Toux scored the game-winner against New England on March 15. He was as hot as any player in league in the summer, scoring eight goals in a 10-game during a span from June 7 to Aug. 4. It led him to being named to the MLS Team of the Week by MLSSoccer.com twice over that stretch -- Week's 22 and 24. During that run, he posted two goals at New England on June 28. He also scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over Montreal on Aug. 9. Not just a goalscorer, he put together an all-around performance by tallying three assists and a goal in a 4-2 victory against San Jose on Aug. 24.
2013 (Union): Played in 31 games starting 25, logging 2222 minutes. He scored three (3) goals and led the team with 12 assists. Aug. 10, 2013, he registered two assists to lead the team to a 2-0 victory over D.C. United. On July 3, 2013, he scored against Real Salt Lake to keep the game tied at 2. He also recorded the game winning assist on May 11, 2013 against Chivas USA.Â
2012 (Vancouver and NY Red Bulls): On Jan. 31 Sebastien Le Toux was traded to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC for allocation money. He scored in his first game with the Whitecaps on March 10. He was traded on July 13 to the New York Red Bulls in exchange for Dane Richards and allocation money. Once again he scored in his debut with his new team on July 15. On Dec. 6, Le Toux was traded back to the Union for Josue Martinez and allocation money.
2011 (Union): After a slow start to 2011, Le Toux caught fire in the second half of the season and played a vital role in Philadelphia’s postseason push. In the final 12 games of the regular season he netted ten times and was named MLS Player of the Month in September as a result… Le Toux started and played every minute of Philadelphia’s 36 league matches, including two in the postseason, logging 3,240 minutes... He was the only field player to play every minute of every regular season game ... Led the team in goals (11) assists (9) shots (81) and shots on goal (30)… Le Toux was awarded the XBOX 360 Fair Play award for the second straight year committing only 20 fouls and never being cautioned.
2010 (Union): Acquired by Philadelphia on November 25, 2009 in the MLS Expansion Draft from Seattle Sounders FC … Named MLS Player of the Week for Week 3 of the season for scoring a hat trick against DC United in the Home Opener, a 3-2 win against D.C. United … Won AT&T Goal of the Week for his bending strike against New England on July 31 ... Scored the franchise’s first-ever goal in that game ... Selected as an MLS All-Star for the first time by LA Galaxy Head Coach Bruce Arena ...
