The LA Galaxy signed Samuel Grandsir on March 11, 2021.
Grandsir, 24, joins the club on a three-year contract with an additional one-year option after making 115 appearances in France’s top-flight division while representing French sides Troyes, Monaco, Strasbourg and Brest since his professional debut in 2016. He will be added to the club’s roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and will occupy an International roster spot.
In all, Grandsir made 131 total appearances, scored 12 goals and added 11 assists across all competitions for Troyes, Monaco, Strasbourg and Brest, including featuring in UEFA Champions League, League 1, Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue and Ligue 2, among others. He joins the Galaxy after most recently representing Stade Brestois 29 on loan since 2019, where he tallied five goals and added an assist.
The French midfielder debuted with ES Troyes AC in 2016 after playing for the club’s second team in previous years. While with Troyes, Grandsir made 77 appearances and tallied six goals and nine assists in three seasons. In 2018, he signed with AS Monaco in France’s Ligue 1, where he went on to make 18 appearances – including three in the UEFA Champions League – before two loan spells at Strasbourg and Brest.
Internationally, the wide midfielder appeared for the French U-21 National Team in 2017 and 2018, where he appeared in UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifying matches.
