Young Players: Who stepped up in Matchday 36 & 37?
With only a matter of days – hours, really – until the 2024 edition of the MLSsoccer.com 22 Under 22 rankings drop, rising talents across the league put in work across Matchdays 36 and 37.
Defender and Academy graduate Noah Allen was signed by Inter Miami as a Homegrown player in March of 2022, with the Pembroke Pines native becoming the fourth Inter Miami CF Academy product to earn a First Team contract.Â
Allen has progressed through Inter Miami’s entire development pathway, beginning with the Academy in 2019, joining Inter Miami CF II in 2020, and making his debut for the First Team in 2022. Subsequently, he became the second Academy product to feature in an MLS fixture, and first to start an MLS match, when he featured in the team’s 2022 season home opener on Feb. 26 against the Chicago Fire. Notably, in his second season turning out for Inter Miami CF II and his first full season at the professional level in 2021, Allen earned 2021 USL League One Young Player of the Year honors after a stellar campaign in which he was a mainstay in the team’s lineups.Â
On the international front, he has previously been called up to several U.S. youth national teams. Notably, the defender was a key member in helping his country clinch its third Concacaf U-20 Championship title in 2022 in the tournament that took place from late June through early July, advancing to the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia and the Summer Olympics in 2024 in the process. Allen was a fixture in the team’s lineups throughout the competition, making five appearances, including four starts and starting in the final. He even managed to get on the scoreboard in the final against the Dominican Republic on July 3, netting the team’s fourth goal in the 39th minute of the match en route to the title-clinching 6-0 victory.
