2018-19 (FC Metz): Monteiro began the year with French Ligue 2 side FC Metz, making three appearances, leaving the club on loan midway through the French season.
2017-18 (Heracles Almelo): The midfielder once again played in the Dutch topflight after joining Heracles Almelo. He appeared 34 times in league play, scoring four goals and registering three assists.
2016-17 (SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden): In the second division, Monteiro appeared 36 times, recording four goals and three assists.
2015-16 (SC Cambuur-Leeuwarden): Beginning his senior career in the Eredivisie, the Dutch first division, Monteiro made 20 appearances in league play, scoring two goals and assisting on one.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Monteiro has earned 16 caps for Cape Verde, six in World Cup qualifiers as well as nine in Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches and one in an International Friendly. He debuted in Africa Cup of Nations qualification in 2016.
In 2021, Monteiro earned his first call-up of the season ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where he appeared in the pair of matches. His second call-up came in March for the second set of Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where he appeared in one match. Following the Africa Cup of Nations, Monteiro’s third, fourth, and fifth call-ups came ahead of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, where he appeared in all six matches of the group stage, scoring the game winning goal against Liberia (Oct. 7).
