Career Summary

The 25-year-old midfielder joined Atlanta during the MLS Secondary Transfer Window in July 2019 and went on to make 15 league appearances and 10 starts, recording one goal and three assists in 983 minutes. Hyndman also made two appearances and one start in the 2019 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs in addition to helping the club win its first U.S. Open Cup and Campeones Cup titles. He tallied an assist in his club debut in Atlanta’s 2-0 win over Saint Louis FC July 10 in the U.S. Open Cup and scored his first goal for the club in Atlanta’s 2-0 win against Orlando City SC in the semifinal Aug. 6. Hyndman then scored the opening goal in Atlanta’s 3-2 win against Club América in Campeones Cup on Aug. 14. Hyndman scored two goals and added two assists in 20 MLS appearances in 2020. 

Born in Dallas, Texas, Hyndman spent much of his professional playing career in Europe. He joined the Fulham youth academy in 2011 at the age of 15. The midfielder worked his way through the Fulham youth ranks and made his professional debut for the club in the English Championship on August 9, 2014. Then in June of 2016, Hyndman signed with AFC Bournemouth on a free transfer. 

Hyndman joined Rangers in the Scottish Premiership in January of 2017 on loan where he made 13 appearances and scored four goals. Despite only joining the club in January, Hyndman was selected Rangers Young Player of the Year for the 2016-17 season. He then went back to the Scottish Premiership and joined Hibernian on loan. He made 19 total appearances for the club, with 15 coming in the Premiership, two in League Cup and two in Europa League Qualifying. Hyndman returned to AFC Bournemouth in January 2019. 

2021 (Atlanta United): Started all 10 of his appearances across all competitions. Made seven MLS starts and recorded one goal and one assist before suffering a season-ending ACL injury. Scored against Chicago Fire on April 24. Tallied an assist against Inter Miami on May 9. Concacaf Champions League: Started all four matches against Alajuelense and Philadelphia Union in the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals.  

2020 (Atlanta United): Made 20 starts and 24 appearances across all competitions. Started 16 of his 20 league appearances, recording two goals and two assists in 1,383 minutes. Hyndman scored game-winning goals in consecutive matches to open MLS play, scoring in 2-1 wins at Nashville SC on Feb. 29 and against FC Cincinnati on March 7. Hyndman recorded both his assists in a 4-0 win at D.C. United on Oct. 3. Concacaf Champions League: Started all four matches against FC Motagua and Club América in the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals.  

2019 (Atlanta United): Hyndman joined the team mid-season and started 10 of his 15 league appearances, recording one goal and three assists in 983 minutes played. Scored in 3-1 win against San Jose (9/21). MLS Cup Playoffs: Made two appearances, one start. U.S. Open Cup: Started two matches and made one substitute appearance on Atlanta’s run to the 2019 US. Open Cup title. Recorded an assist in his club debut, a 2-0 win against Saint Louis FC (7/10), and scored his first goal with Atlanta in the 2-0 win against Orlando City SC in the semifinal (8/6). Campeones Cup: Started and scored the opening goal in Atlanta’s 3-2 win against Club America (8/14). 

2018/19 (Bournemouth/Hibernian): Premier League: Hyndman made one appearance in Premier League play, coming in as a substitute in a 3-3 draw against Southampton (4/27). Scottish Premiership: Spent majority of the season on-loan with Hibernian where he made 15 appearances and 10 starts in the Scottish Premiership. He scored one goal in a 6-0 win against Hamilton Academical (10/6). League Cup: Started both of Hibernian’s matches in the League Cup where the team reached the quarterfinals before losing in penalties to Aberdeen. Europa League Qualifying: Made two substitute appearances against Molde FK. 

2017/18 (Bournemouth): Started in his one appearance in league play against Burnley in a 2-1 win (5/13). FA Cup: Made two appearances and one start against Wigan in the Third Round. EFL Cup: Made one appearance as a substitute against Brighton in a 1-0 extra-time win (9/19). 

2016/17 (Bournemouth/Rangers): Spent most of the season on-loan with Rangers where he made 13 appearances, all starts, in the Scottish Premiership while scoring four goals and recording two assists. Scottish FA Cup: Started in three of his four appearances and assisted in a 2-1 win against Motherwell (1/21) and another in a 2-1 win over Morton (2/12). Rangers reached the semifinals where it lost to Celtic 2-0 (4/23). FA Cup: Started in Bournemouth’s 3-0 loss to Millwall in the third round (1/7). EFL Cup: Made two substitute appearances in the second round 2-1 win against Morecambe (8/24) and the third round loss to Preston North End (9/20). 

2015/2016 (Fulham): Hyndman made 16 appearances and nine starts in Championship league play. He scored the game-winner in stoppage time on his birthday for his first professional goal against Cardiff in a 2-1 win (4/9). EFL Cup: Made one substitute appearance in a 1-0 loss to Stoke City (9/22). 

2014/2015 (Fulham): Hyndman started in all nine of his appearances in Championship league play. EFL Cup: Made two starts against Doncaster (9/23) and Derby (10/28). 

INTERNATIONAL: Hyndman has represented the United States from the U-17 level all the way up to the senior National Team. He made his USMNT debut at 18 years old when he was subbed on in a friendly against the Czech Republic on Sept. 3, 2014. The following summer, Hyndman captained the United States U-20 National Team in the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where he played all five matches and scored two goals in group play.
