MLS EXPERIENCE
2013: After a standout 2012 season, Johnson remained in form, netting nine goals and two assists.
2012: After returning to MLS from his time most recent stint with Fulham, Johnson earned MLS Comeback Player of the Year for his head-turning 14 goal season with the Seattle Sounders. An MLS All-star for the third time in his career, Johnson helped Seatlle finish third in the Western Conference and make a playoff run.
2010-2011: Johnson returned to the place his European career began, making 10 total appearances from Fulham before returning to MLS.
2009-2010: The dynamic forward featured 15 times for Aris FC while on loan to the Greek Super League side.
2008-2009: Johnson signed a year-long loan with FA Cup finalists Cardiff City, where he made 15 appearances and assisted on two tallies.
2007-2008: Transferred to Fulham of the English Premier League, Johnson made six appearances for the Cottagers during their fight against relegation, starting four games.
2007: An explosive season saw Johnson net a career high 15 goals and a career-high six assists in 24 games as Kansas City advanced all the way to the conference finals.
2006: Having been traded to the then-Kansas City Wizards, Johnson lost his touch. After appearing in 19 games, Johnson only had two goals to his name, and Kansas City nearly missed the playoffs, coming in only one point behind New York.
2005: During an injury-ridden year, Johnson only featured 15 times for Dallas, but still found the net five times through the season.
2004: In 2004, Johnson began to really make a name for himself. In 26 games (25 starts), he scored an impressive 12 goals for Dallas, while assisting on three others. Despite Johnson's breakout performance, Dallas missed the playoffs once again.
2003: Having established himself as a forward able to put the ball in the net, Johnson saw more playing time in 2003. Making 22 appearances (13 starts), the talented forward tallied three times in the regular season.
2002: His sophomore campaign saw Dallas make the MLS Playoffs. Johnson played 11 matches, starting two, netting two goals and notching two assists.
2001: After signing a Nike-Project 40 contract and entering the 2001 MLS SuperDraft, Johnson was selected in the second round, 19th overall, by the Dallas Burn. In his rookie year, Johnson played 10 games (1 start) and netted 2 goals.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
2013: In 2013, Johnson appeared in 15 matches and found the back of the net five times through both of the USMNT’s triumphant journeys through World Cup Qualifying, seeing Johnson tally against Panama and Mexico, and the Gold Cup, where Johnson tallied in both the quarter final and semi final rounds. The former Sounder also scored in a friendly against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
2012: Johnson appeared in two matches in 2012. Johnson netted a brace on 12/10 in a 2-1 World Cup Qualifying victory over Antigua and Barbuda. on 12/16, Johnson helped the U.S. overcame Guatemala 3-1.
2010: Improved form earned him a spot on the 30-man preliminary roster for the FIFA World Cup. Johnson came on as a substitute in the final 14 minutes of a 2-1 loss to Holland on 3/3 in Amsterdam. On 5/25, he started against the Czech Republic in the first match of the Send-Off Series and went 45 minutes on 10/12 against Colombia in Chester, Pa.
2009: Johnson made only two appearances in 2009, entering as a reserve in the USA’s final matches of the year, playing 45 minutes on 11/14 against Slovakia and 39 minutes on 11/18 against Denmark.
2008: On his way to becoming a regular fixture on the pitch for the U.S., he appeared in six games in 2008, including starts against England, Spain and Argentina prior to World Cup qualifying. He earned Man of the Match honors for his effort against England on 5/28 at Wembley Stadium and began his second World Cup cycle in fine fashion when he came off the bench to score a late goal in the 8-0 win against Barbados on 6/15.
2007: Johnson featured in both the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2007 Copa America tournament in Venezuela. In the Gold Cup, he made three appearances at forward, scoring once from a Landon Donovan assist against Trinidad & Tobago. At Copa America, he provided one of the shocks of the tournament when he put the United States up 1-0 over Argentina after he set-up and converted a penalty kick early on in the match. He started all three games for the United States in Venezuela.
2006: Johnson was a member of the 2006 FIFA World Cup squad that appeared in Germany. Featuring in two of the three games in Group E play, he concluded 2006 with 11 appearances, four as a starter, scoring one goal and recording one assist. His lone goal came in a 4-0 win over Guatemala on 2/19 in Frisco, TX.
2005: After the 2006 World Cup qualifiers, Johnson had netted seven goals in seven appearances, tied for most goals with Landon Donovan. He scored three goals in six appearances before an injury to his toe ended his year in mid-May. Two of those goals came in the final round of World Cup Qualifying, including the USA’s first goal of the hexagonal when he headed home a Steve Cherundolo cross in the 2-1 on 2/9 in Trinidad. Johnson deservedly earned Man of the Match honors in that game, as well as the 1-0 victory against Honduras on 3/19 in Albuquerque in which he scored the game-winner. On a roll, he netted another goal in the 2-0 win against Guatemala on 3/30 in Birmingham, crushing home a 12-yard shot off the right post after collecting a back-heel touch from Landon Donovan in the penalty area. Johnson made one more appearance in 2005, entering as a sub in the 57th minute of the 0-0 qualifying draw on 9/7 in Guatemala.
2004: Johnson made a name for himself early is his career on an international stage. He made appearances in the final three games of 2004, starting one but scoring in all three for a total of five goals. The dynamic forward saw his first cap and goal against El Salvador on 10/9, coming on as a substitute in the 71st minute and sealing the 2-0 victory a few minutes later. Then, he scored a hat trick as a substitute against Panama at RFK Stadium on 10/13, putting away three goals in the final 25 minutes (the first U.S. player to ever notch three goals as a substitute). His last goal of 2004 came as the lone U.S. goal in a 1-1 qualifying draw with Jamaica in the final game of 2004.
