Real Salt Lake loan Douglas Martinez to San Diego LoyalÂ
TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Loan Real Salt Lake have loaned forward Douglas Martinez to USL Championship side San Diego Loyal for the remainder of the 2021 season, the club announced Monday.
Acquired: Signed by Real Salt Lake from Real Monarchs SLC on August 31, 2019
Professional Career
2020 Real Salt Lake: With 10 starts in 19 total appearances for Real Salt Lake, MartÃnez played 924 minutes and scored three goals.
2019 Real Monarchs: MartÃnez led the Monarchs in scoring with 17 goals in 25 games, the fifth highest in USL Championship. In his 2,002 minutes with the club he recorded seven assists, including one assist and one goal during the Monarchs title-winning season. MartÃnez made one appearance for RSL, making his MLS debut in the starting eleven on September 12 against San Jose. MartÃnez became the eighth player to sign for RSL after first signing with the Monarchs.
2017 New York Red Bulls II: MartÃnez has previous United Soccer League experience having featured for New York Red Bulls II on loan in 2017. He logged 485 minutes and scored one goal in 16 appearances for the USLC side.
2013-2018 Vida (Honduras): MartÃnez spent the 2017-2018 season with C.D.S. Vida in his second stint with the club, having featured for the Honduran side in four seasons prior to 2018 beginning in 2013 when he made his professional debut at 16-years-old. MartÃnez totaled 1,230 minutes and three goals in his time in the Honduran top flight.
International Career (Honduras)
2019: With the Honduran U-23 team, MartÃnez tallied two goals and won the silver medal in the 2019 Pan American Games in Peru. Later in the year, he was called up to the Honduras National Team and made four appearances, three of which came in the CONCACAF Nations League. MartÃnez scored his first goal in his debut at the senior level in a 2-0 win against Trinidad and Tobago on October 11, 2019.
2017: MartÃnez received his first international call-up to the Honduran U-20 squad in 2017. He represented Honduras at the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship during their second-place finish. He helped the squad qualify for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea with one goal and five starts in six appearances.
