Major League Soccer players are keeping busy during the league's break from play as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Some are showcasing hidden talents on MLS Idle, others are taking up cooking and learning a new language and all are participating in Zoom workouts.
For a trio of Atlanta United players, its a chance to further their education.
George Campbell, Mo Adams and George Bello are all taking online classes at Southern New Hampshire University.
Adams is picking up where he left off at Syracuse University, where he spent three semesters before turning pro and signing a Generation Adidas contract in 2018.
“I weighed my options to see what was more reasonable for me which was in Southern New Hampshire,” Adams told ATLUTD.com. “One thing I like is we are in charge of the workload we have. We select something we are comfortable with. I want to just graduate with ease and not rush.”
Campbell and Bello were both signed as Homegrown Players out of high school. Campbell said veteran teammates Jeff Larentowicz and Alec Kann were influential in his decision to take classes.
“Usually, you’re hanging around your age group, but there’s no avoiding talking to any of the players at one point,” Campbell said. “They all really have a good influence on us. Those guys really put a bug in my ear. The finisher was all the young guys doing it too. That all helped me as well.”
Adams and Campbell have both gotten into a routine, taking their classes in the evening. While Campbell’s focus is on core classes, Adams is pursing a business administrations degree with a focus in sports.
