They have not qualified for the World Cup since 1982 and with two critical matches coming up, Peru will be relying on a Lion to help them get to Russia
Orlando City SC midfielder Yoshi Yotun made Peru's roster for their playoff against New Zealand with a spot in the World Cup on the line. The first match will be taking place in New Zealand on Nov. 10 with the return leg set for Nov. 15 in Lima. Yotun appeared in 13 of Peru's 18 World Cup qualifying matches, starting 12, including each of their last three matches.
Yotun joined Orlando City on Aug. 4 and started nine matches, scoring one goal and adding three assists.
One name that was left off of Ricardo Gareca's 26-man roster was Yordy Reyna's. The Vancouver Whitecaps FC attacker failed to make the roster after being called in for the last round of qualifiers in October. Reyna appeared as a substitute, playing 27 minutes in Peru's last match.
