With a goal scored during each half of the San Jose Earthquakes' California Clasico fixture against the LA Galaxy on Saturday night, Chris Wondolowski has moved within five goals of the all-time MLS goal-scoring record currently held by Landon Donovan.
Both goals were equalizers. On the first, Wondolowki finished off his own rebound after a first-half penalty kick was saved by the Galaxy's David Bingham, leveling the score at 1-1.
San Jose won another penalty in the second half, and this time Bingham was beaten on the first attempt to make it 3-3.
The 35-year-old Wondolowski now has 140 career goals, five short of Donovan's 145, including six scored during 16 appearances this season.
