Will Ferrell suggests a prickly nickname for Matthew McConaughey's Austin FC

LAFC part-owner Will Ferrell has been an MLS mentor of sorts for his Hollywood friend Matthew McConaughey, who will soon experience the thrill of watching an MLS team he owns a share of when Austin FC play their first MLS match in 2021.

It turns out the two men have talked a bit of MLS during their time together, Ferrell told Victor Diaz of Spectrum News, a central Texas news channel. And it turns out, Ferrell even has an idea for a nickname for the team in the Texas state capital.

"I think Austin is going to be a fantastic market for a brand new soccer team," Ferrell said. "And I can't wait to be there when LAFC plays the Austin Cactuses."

Ferrell is a member of one of the largest ownership groups in MLS with LAFC, who also count Mia Hamm, Magic Johnson and Nomar Garciaparra among their stakeholders.

McConaughey was among the Austin-based partners to formally join the team's ownership group last August.
