Week 12 kicks off with three matches on Wednesday night, including one with some pretty weighty stakes. Here's what to look for during the midweek slate.
FC Dallas vs. Colorado Rapids

Both Dallas and Colorado will be looking for back-to-back victories when they meet on Wednesday night at Toyota Stadium. Dallas has yet to string consecutive wins together this season, and is coming off a narrow 2-1 derby win over Houston as Andres Ricaurte looks to build off his impressive first start. The Rapids have one previous pair of back-to-back wins from early in the season, but then they went seven winless before snapping out of it in a 5-0 romp against Real Salt Lake.
San Jose Earthquakes vs. Portland Timbers

The Quakes are winless in their last five — with 16 goals conceded — but might be turning a corner after holding the Galaxy scoreless in the Cali Clasico on Sunday night. But the question is: what team will we see? And the Timbers might provide a chance for Matias Almeyda's bunch to get right offensively, with Giovanni Savarese's group having conceded 16 goals in the five games since the MLS season resumed last month. They'll still be without Sebastian Blanco and have had to train indoors for the past week due to the wildfires enveloping the western part of the United States. Diego Chara will be back after missing Portland's last game due to yellow card accumulation.
Vancouver Whitecaps FC vs. Montreal Impact

The defending Canadian Championship holders Montreal will qualify for the 2020 final against a Canadian Premier League opponent with a second victory in four days at BC Place, since any win would bring them level on points with Toronto with a superior away goal difference. The prospect of playing spoiler may be more intriguing than normal for already-eliminated Vancouver after a contentious 4-2 Impact victory Sunday that saw both clubs finish with 10 men.
