Sporting Kansas City's big-money forward came through in his first competitive match.
Mexican forward Alan Pulido, who was the top scorer in Liga MX with Chivas Guadalajara, found the back of the net in the 17th minute of his first MLS match for Sporting Kansas City in Vancouver.
The 28 year old Pulido, who was acquired for a club record transfer fee reported to be around $10 million, applied a brave header to a ball that was lofted near the penalty spot. He beat the flying boot of a defender and expertly placed it off the left post.
Pulido is one of 10 marquee names who moved to MLS from Liga MX during the offseason and he's expected to fill what has been a long-time hole for Sporting Kansas City, a club that has been searching for a prolific center forward in recent seasons.
