Earlier this week, MLSsoccer.com National Writer Sam Stejskal reported that LAFC defender Walker Zimmerman had recently turned down an offer to remain with the club after his contract runs out at season's end.
On Saturday, the 25-year-old showed why the expansion outfit are trying to lock him down, helping to blank the San Jose Earthquakes while scoring both goals in a 2-0 victory.
"For me, I'm just focused on winning," Zimmerman said. "That's what I love. That's what I care about. Right now, I'm focused: We have five games left. Whatever I can do to help this team compete, win, have a run in the playoffs, win an MLS Cup – that's all I'm really focused on right now. The rest of the stuff will take care of itself."
Acquired in an offseason trade from FC Dallas, Zimmerman has made 21 regular-season appearances – all starts – for LAFC this year. He’s made 110 career regular-season appearances in six years in MLS and has three career caps for the U.S. national team.
