After a low-scoring start to the season, the goals are finally pouring in across MLS – but that doesn’t mean that the league's goalkeepers aren’t putting in work.
The weekend’s action featured plenty of outstanding play between the pipes, providing you, the voter, with plenty of good choices for the Week 9 MLS Save of the Week race.
Columbus Crew SC ‘keeper Steve Clark has earned a nod for a sterling 1v1 save in Saturday’s loss to D.C. United. Seattle’s Stefan Frei – the featured netminder in the MLS Team of the Week – has garnered a nomination for his best moment in the Sounders’ 3-1 win over New York City FC on Sunday, a match that also saw Josh Saunders make an outstanding stop for the losing side.
Sporting KC understudy Tim Melia proved he was ready for the spotlight in Sunday’s 1-0 SKC win over Chicago and has been recognized accordingly, while Luis Robles has made this week’s list for his stop on Colorado’s Dominique Badji in midweek.
