If someone wants to unseat Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando as reigning MLS Save of the Week winner, they'll have to bring out something truly special.
A week after starting the season right with the first of what promises to be many weekly awards, Rimando is 2in the running again after denying San Jose's Chris Wondolowski with a lightning-fast, one-handed reaction save in a 3-3 draw on Saturday night.
The Union's Zac MacMath matched his veteran peer earlier in the day, somehow saving what looked like a sure goal for New England's Diego Fagundez. Not to be outdone, Troy Perkins got in the act for Montreal by charging down Andrew Driver's wide-open shot.
Finally, Portland's Donovan Ricketts preserved a 1-1 draw with Chicago by somehow getting his body in front of a Bakary Soumare header, and Seattle's Stefan Frei got a palm to Alvaro Rey's missile in the weekend's marquee game against new-look Toronto FC.
