Penalty kick takers, beware: Nick Rimando and David Bingham aren't going to let you score that easily. The goalkeeping duo is part of the field up for the Week 10 MLS Save of the Week award after producing a pair of result-saving penalty stops in their respective midweek encounters.
Moments after conceding a second-half penalty to the Houston Dynamo on May 5, Bingham atoned for his mistake by diving to his left and palming Giles Barnes' spot-kick attempt out for a corner kick to preserve an eventual 1-0 win for the San Jose Earthquakes in a Western Conference clash.
Rimando's stop came one day later in similar circumstances, as he also sprawled to his left to deny the LA Galaxy's Juninho and preserve a 0-0 draw for Real Salt Lake in stoppage time of another matchup out West.
The Vancouver Whitecaps' David Ousted has been one of the league's top 'keepers through the first part of the season and will get a crack at his first Save of the Week award of 2015 for his spectacular point-blank denial of Andrew Wenger in his team's home win over the Philadelphia Union.
Also up for Week 10 honors is the Montreal Impact's Evan Bush, who got down well to deny a low drive from the Portland Timbers' Rodney Wallace in the two teams' Saturday encounter. It was not enough for the Impact, though, as the Timbers would eventually triumph. New York City FC goalkeeper Josh Saunders rounds out the field after a splendid breakway stop to deny Bradley Wright-Phillips in the first edition of the New York derby and keep his team in the game.
