The Houston Dynamo have boosted their defense by signing free agent Jalil Anibaba, who last season played with Sporting KC.
“We are delighted to bring a player of Jalil’s quality and experience to our club,” Dynamo head coach Owen Coyle said in a team statement.
In addition to Sporting KC, the athletic 27-year-old defender has played for two other MLS clubs, the Chicago Fire and the Seattle Sounders. The Dynamo are hoping that Anibaba’s arrival will help improve the club’s defense which finished in the middle of MLS clubs with 49 goals conceded last season.
“We’re very pleased to announce the addition of Jalil to our roster,” Dynamo vice president and general manager Matt Jordan said. “His MLS experience, athleticism and professional approach to the game will be a welcomed addition to our backline. He joins our club at a very good age and is eager to contribute to the success of the team moving forward.”
