The AT&T MLS Goal of the Week award is headed north of the border.
Vancouver attacker Yordy Reyna won Goal of the Week for Week 24, taking home 47 percent of the vote for his curling strike in the Whitecaps’ 2-1 home win against Houston last Saturday.
Reyna collected a Houston turnover just outside the box in the 32nd-minute of Saturday’s match at BC Place, turning into the middle and curling a gorgeous right-footer into the far corner to give the ‘Caps a 2-0 lead.
Ignacio Piatti finished second in the Goal of the Week voting with 34 percent of the final count for his long-distance strike in Montreal’s win against Chicago last Wednesday. Sporting Kansas City’s Diego Rubio (9 percent) and Gerso Fernandes (6 percent) finished third and fourth, respectively, while NYCFC’s Jonathan Lewis (4 percent) rounded out the vote.
Reyna and Vancouver will return to action on Saturday at Orlando (7:30 pm ET; MLS LIVE in the US | TSN in Canada).
