Christian Pulisic took another important step forward Sunday, featuring for Chelsea in a 7-1 win over Queens Park Rangers in a closed-door scrimmage at Stamford Bridge.
Pulisic also played in a 1-0 win over Reading in a mid-week friendly at the club's training grounds.
The US men’s national team star last played for Frank Lampard’s squad Jan. 1 against Brighton. He’s been sidelined with an adductor injury since. The 21-year-old initially returned to training in late January, but suffered a setback. He returned to training in early March where he competed in an in-house 11-v-11 scrimmage.
He was scheduled to return in mid-March before the Premier League shut down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
After a slow start to his Chelsea career, Pulisic heated up in late October and his form carried over for most of the next month. He has six goals and six assists in 23 appearances across all competitions since his move from Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea, currently fourth in the Premier League, will meet Aston Villa in their return to league play next Sunday.
