US national team add Kekuta Manneh to roster for Paraguay match

US national team coach Dave Sarachan on Monday added Pachuca winger Kekuta Manneh to his roster for next week's friendly vs. Paraguay, running the squad up to 23 players in all. 

The fourth overall selection in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft and a member of that year's Generation adidas class, Manneh bagged 22 goals and 12 assists for Vancouver over four and a half seasons before moving to Columbus in a midseason trade last year.

He went on to chip in four goals and three assists for Crew SC as they made a dramatic run to the Eastern Conference Championship, then elected to move abroad to sign with Mexican club Pachuca over the winter, where he's made several Copa MX appearances and one substitute runout in Liga MX action.

A native of The Gambia who moved to the United States as an adolescent, Manneh first shot to prominence with dominant displays in US Soccer Development Academy and PDL play. Manneh was legally adopted by his host parents in Texas and worked his way through the naturalization process by living just across the border in Point Roberts, Washington while playing for the Whitecaps.

He gained full US citizenship a little over a year ago, earning a call-up to the USMNT's 2017 January camp, and has since then completed the necessary FIFA paperwork to be eligible to represent the US in match action.
