The 2018 MLS All-Star roster has evolved.
Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Minnesota United FC forward Darwin Quintero and New York Red Bulls midfielder Tyler Adams have been added to the roster facing Italian giants Juventus in Wednesday’s 2018 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target (7:30pm ET | ESPN, UniMás, TSN & TVA Sports).
MLS All-Star head coach Tata Martino selected Quintero and Adams to replace LA Galaxy forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who will not be participating, and New York City FC forward David Villa, who has missed his club's last six matches as he recovers from injury. Per league rules, missing the All-Star Game will force both Villa and Ibrahimovic to sit out their club's next league match.
Quintero has thrived in his first season in MLS with 9 goals and 8 assists over 17 matches for Minnesota, while US national team regular Adams has tied a career-high with 4 assists for the Red Bulls, who sit third in the East and fourth in the Supporters' Shield standings.
Additionally, MLS Homegrown Team head coach Tony Annan also announced the additions of FC Dallas forward Jesus Ferreira and Real Salt Lake midfielder Aaron Herrera to the Homegrown roster.
The MLS Homegrown Team will face the Liga MX youth champion Tigres Under-20 team at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Training Ground on Tuesday, July 31 (8pm ET, UDN - Full TV & streaming info). The duo replaces FCD defender Reggie Cannon and D.C. United midfielder Chris Durkin on the roster.
