Reports emerged on Wednesday evening that Columbus Crew SC striker Kei Kamara could be on his way to the Vancouver Whitecaps -- but the Whitecaps have denied it.
Kamara, who has been suspended by Columbus after his critical remarks towards teammate Federico Higuain, may be on the trading block as a result of his comments, as Crew SC head coach Gregg Berhalter indicated on Tuesday.
Media reports on Wednesday evening claimed that Kamara could head to Vancouver in exchange for Uruguayan forward Octavio Rivero, who has one goal in 10 appearances this season. He did not play in the Caps' 2-1 win over Chicago on Wednesday night.
However, despite the reports, Whitecaps club reporter Farhan Devji denied the rumors.
And Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson was quoted on Wednesday night as not having knowledge of the deal.
Major League Soccer's primary transfer window closed at 1AM ET on Thursday, but deals completed in time could still be announced after the window is closed.
