Atlanta United FC are reportedly close to signing the first player in club history – and it’s a name that would make waves around CONCACAF.

According to ESPN Deportes, Atlanta, which will enter MLS in 2017, are in the running to sign Mexican international Marco Fabian from Chivas Guadalajara. Fabian, 26, is also reportedly weighing an offer to move to Germany. If he signs with Atlanta, Fabian would reportedly spend 2016 on loan to a European club before rejoining United for their 2017 expansion season.

Fabian has spent his entire pro career with Chivas, aside from a year-long loan to Cruz Azul in 2014. He has 56 goals in 215 career Liga MX appearances, and has six goals in 25 career caps with the Mexican national team. A member of the El Tri squad that won the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics, Fabian made three appearances for Mexico at the 2014 World Cup.
