Have yourself a week, Richie Laryea.
After being named MLS Player of the Week for Week 14, the Toronto FC right back has also taken home AT&T Goal of the Week honors.
Laryea’s individual effort garnered an even 36% of the vote, as the Canadian international slalomed past several Columbus Crew SC defenders in the 18-yard box before nutmegging goalkeeper Eloy Room with a powerful finish. Laryea’s goal in the 76th minute capped a 3-1 win over the Supporters’ Shield leaders, plus he assisted on Toronto’s second in a rapid comeback.
Second place went to Philadelphia Union midfielder Anthony Fontana, giving the Homegrown Player a combined four goals in their last four games. Fontana collected 24.69% of the vote, dribbling at the heart of Inter Miami CF’s defense before lacing home the first goal in a 3-0 win.
Stoppage-time heroics helped San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Jackson Yueill muster a charge, but he settled for third place with 17.31% of the vote. Yueill’s backheel flick in the 93rd minute capped off a 2-1 comeback for San Jose against LAFC after they had suffered consecutive five-goal defeats.
New England Revolution striker Adam Buksa earned fourth place with 13.69% of the vote, as the Designated Player ended a nine-game scoreless streak. His delicate, left-footed chip came in the 90th minute, capping a 2-0 win at D.C. United.
Montreal Impact forward Bojan Krkic brought up the rear with 8.31% of the vote to finish in fifth place. He launched home a right-footed rocket against the New York Red Bulls, one of their only highlights in a 4-1 defeat.
