It was a tight race for this week's Save of the Week award, but Toronto FC goalkeeper Joe Bendik the last man standing.
Bendik edged out New York Red Bulls netminder Luis Robles for Week 27's accolade, winning the vote by less than one percent. Bendik claimed 31.63 percent with his double save in Toronto FC's controversial 1-1 draw vs. the Chicago Fire while Robles gathered 30.79 for his point-blank denial of Maurice Edu in the Red Bulls' 2-2 stalemate with the Philadelphia Union.
Bendik pulled off the impressive blocks in the second half after he tripped up Grant Ward in the 18-yard box to concede a penalty kick. He first denied Jeff Larentowicz from the spot before getting in the way of Quincy Amarikwa's rebounded effort.
The award is Bendik's first of the season, and second won by a Toronto FC player. Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar first claimed the award back in Week 7.
