Tigres UANL could be operating without two of their key contributors when they take on LAFC in Tuesday's Concacaf Champions League final at Exploria Stadium in Orlando.
Tigres manager Ricardo Ferretti confirmed on Monday that standout forward Andre-Pierre Gignac (thigh contusion) and winger Javier Aquino (muscle discomfort) are question marks for the final, as they receive treatment for their respective injuries. The club earlier revealed that both players missed Monday's training session in Orlando.
Ferretti said the hope is that both veterans will be fit to play in the match, but their status appears to be very much up in the air.
Both players would represent significant losses if they do find themselves unable to suit up. Gignac is one of the most lethal attackers in Liga MX, racking up a gaudy 125 goals in 207 league appearances since joining Tigres in 2015 and scoring five goals during this year's CCL run.
Aquino, meanwhile, is a longtime staple for the club, accumulating 189 appearances and scoring 26 goals for Tigres since 2015. He scored their final goal in the club's 4-0 trouncing of NYCFC in the CCL semifinals.
LAFC will be shorthanded in their own right for the contest, as midfielder Eduard Atuesta will be suspended for the final due to the red card he received in his club's semifinal matchup with Club America.
