The long offseason is over and MLS has returned, and Week 1 action did not disappoint with plenty of goals, upsets and late drama. There were also some stalwart offensive performances from deeper lying positions, which are represented in selections for the Team of the Week presented by Audi.

There were also three players honored after their first-ever MLS appearances: Sporting Kansas City's Gadi Kinda and the San Jose Earthquakes' Oswaldo Alanis were first XI selections, while Columbus Crew SC record signing Lucas Zelarayan made the bench.
