A busy couple days became busier for Sporting Kansas City on Tuesday afternoon, as they announced the signing of veteran goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra.
Sporting KC added their third player in two days on Tuesday after coming to terms with Dykstra on a one-year deal that includes an option for 2018. Dykstra officially joins the club after it selected him in Stage Two of the 2016 MLS Re-Entry Draft in December.
"When we lost Alec Kann in the Expansion Draft, we knew we wanted to fill that role with a veteran of MLS," Sporting KC manager Peter Vermes said in a club-issued statement. "Andrew is a player who was available in the Re-Entry Draft and one who we know very well from his time in the league. He has a good attitude and we look forward working with him this coming season."
Dykstra, 31, lands in Kansas City after previously playing for D.C. United and the Chicago Fire. He has been in MLS since 2009, and has made 31 regular-season appearances while posting seven shutouts.
The announcement of Dykstra's arrival came a mere hours after Sporting KC signed forward Cameron Iwasa and a day after they traded for Christian Volesky.
