Braian Galvan - Colorado Rapids

The newest member of the Colorado Rapids is in market and will head to Orlando for the MLS is Back Tournament with his teammates.

A source close to the club told MLSsoccer.com that Braian Galvan flew from Argentina to Colorado last week and is currently in self-quarantine, per government travel regulations. When that quarantine expires, Galvan will fly to Orlando with the squad in preparation for the tournament.

There, Galvan will be able to train with the Rapids for the first time and will be eligible for his debut.

Galvan, 19, signed a pre-contract agreement with the Rapids for the summer transfer window. The highly-touted Argentinian winger joins Colorado as a free agent. He broke through with CA Colon in his home country, making his debut in 2017, and made nine league appearances with the club, including five this season with two starts. He scored his first senior goal in November.

“He's a fast, skillful and talented player who has already made his professional debut and has been a part of the Argentine youth national team system," Rapids GM and EVP Padraig Smith said in January when the signing was announced. "We see great potential in him and couldn’t be more thrilled to have him join our club.”

Galvan joins a deep group of attacking talent, giving head coach Robin Fraser another option on the wings alongside Jonathan Lewis, Nico Benezet, Sam Nicholson and Andre Shinyashiki, while Designated Player Younes Namli can also cover in that area when not playing his preferred No. 10 role.

The Rapids got off to a fast start in 2020, winning both of their regular season matches. They were drawn into Group D of the MLS is Back Tournament with Sporting KC, Minnesota United and Real Salt Lake.
