Sporting KC's Jimmy Nielsen clearly has the blessing of Major League Soccer's fans. Outside of Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando, who has seven Save of the Week awards during the 2012 season, Nielsen is the most decorated netminder in the league.
For the sixth time this season and second week in a row, Nielsen took home the weekly award, garnering more than 40 percent of the fan vote for his leaping parry of an rocket unleashed by New York's Kenny Cooper from the edge of the penalty area.
That save, along with four other crucial stops by the Dane, helped Sporting preserve a scoreless draw at Red Bull Arena, a result which set up their victory vs. Philadelphia midweek to clinch home-field advantage in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
He may have fallen just short of Tony Meola's shutout record, finishing with 15 to the former Kansas City 'keeper's 16, but It's no wonder Nielsen was named the club's co-MVP along with Graham Zusi.
