Sporting Kansas City fullback Jaylin Lindsey has suffered a torn meniscus and will miss 4-5 months, including the U-20 World Cup.
Lindsey, 19, was expected to be named to the US U-20 roster for the upcoming youth World Cup in Poland, which runs May 23-June 15, having featured five times for the team in 2018 as well as the side's first two friendlies of 2019 in March, against France and Japan.
"He will be out for a while,” head coach Peter Vermes told The Blue Testament. “The unfortunate thing is it did not even happen in training, it’s kind of an unlucky situation. Another guy that will be out in the short-term when we need bodies will not be around.”
The fullback made his MLS debut for SKC last season, accruing seven appearances in league play. He was expected to serve as a regular rotation option in 2019, though was yet to make his league debut for the season.
Lindsey joins SKC's growing injury list, alongside Erik Hurtado, Daniel Salloi and Jimmy Medranda.
