Ronald Gonzalez has selected his Costa Rica roster for November's Concacaf Nations League games, and the group includes considerable MLS influence.
All told, seven current MLS players are among the call-ups for the games in League A, Group C – Thursday at Curacao and Sunday against Haiti in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Defenders Giancarlo Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Kendall Waston (FC Cincinnati), Francisco Calvo (Chicago Fire) and Ronald Matarrita (NYCFC), and midfielders Allan Cruz (FC Cincinnati), Luis Diaz (Columbus Crew SC) and Ulises Segura (D.C. United) are called up. In addition, future Nashville SC midfielder Randall Leal, who will join the club in January, is also called up to the roster.
Costa Rica sit in second place in League A Group C at present, with a game in hand on their opponents. They'll need to overcome Curacao's three-point lead as a start to try and qualify for both the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup and the semifinal round of the 2019-20 Nations League, whereas a second-place finish in the group will mean Gold Cup qualification only.
