Obafemi Martins has claimed his first AT&T Goal of the Week award of the 2015 campaign, and done so in emphatic fashion.
Martins collected the accolade on Friday for his spectacular goal in the Seattle Sounders' 3-1 road victory over the Colorado Rapids. The veteran striker earned a little more than 64 percent of the week's vote, pushing him way ahead of the rest of the pack and making him the second Sounders player after Clint Dempsey– who took home the Week 1 honors– to win this award this year.
Martins brought down an Andy Rose long ball and turned Rapids defender Bobby Burling with an incredible first touch, racing into the area before slotting his left-footer past Clint Irwin to cap the scoring. The goal was Martins' fourth of the campaign.
