It's been raining goals in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs, and Thursday night's LAFC-LA Galaxy classic just stormed its way into the record books.
The eight goals scored in LAFC's 5-3 win over their city rivals tied a mark for most goals in a playoff game that was set all the way back in 1998 by Columbus and the New York Red Bulls (then known as the MetroStars).
The LAFC-Galaxy classic comes after two other 2019 playoff games came within a goal of tying the record. Another one of the most most dramatic and event-filled postseason matches in league history came between the Seattle Sounders vs. FC Dallas in Round One on Saturday, with the Sounders coming out on top in a 4-3 thriller – a level of excitement and goalscoring matched when the Philadelphia Union beat the New York Red Bulls by the same scoreline a day later.
